Brunei | Political Map Brunei | Flag Brunei

Location:
Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital of Brunei, and the city is located at the banks of the Brunei River. Brunei is in Southeast Asia, and is at the north coast of the Borneo Island.
The city has derived its name in a very strange way. It was in the seventies, when there was the sultanate rule in Seri Begawan. The Sultan at that time named the city after his father called Omar Ali Saifuddien at that time, and before that the city was called Bandar Brunei.
The capital of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan(BSB) is the sultanate's main settlement of any true size. Until 1970, BSB was known basically as Brunei Town. The present name implies "Town of the Seri Begawan", Seri Begawan being the title Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien took in the wake of abandoning in favour of his child Hassanal Bolkiah in October 1967. Straddling with the northern bank of a turn in the Sungai Brunei, the city is portrayed by its unrealistic juxtaposition of striking cutting edge structures.
Political importance
This water village, Kampung Ayer, was Brunei's unique seat of power and is still home to around a quarter of BSB's population. After the landing of the British Residency in 1906, the lanes which structure downtown BSB were laid out on recovered area. However the Kampung occupants stayed put, wanting to hold their conventional lifestyle in spite of an endeavour to wheedle them onto dry area. As of late as the center of the twentieth century, Brunei's capital was still a drowsy water village. At present, the political framework in the country is represented by the constitution and the national custom of the Malay Islamic Monarchy, the notion of Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB).

The contemporary Bandar Seri Begawan has turned into the magnetic, clean and advanced waterfront city it is today. This is because of oil. With the freshly discovered abundance of the 1970s, came vast scale urbanization in north of the Sungai Brunei, bringing about lodging plans, shopping centres. The radiant Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque overwhelms the horizon of BSB. First-time guests to BSB are enjoyably astounded by a feeling of space and serenity that is very uncommon around Southeast Asia's heading urban communities. Tragically, however, BSB isn't modest to visit. The way that most guests present Brunei implies that most rooms’ costs are high. By the by, the sights of BSB are intriguing enough to warrant a day or two's stopover.
